CEMGI: SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE COMPANY
Bottle Caps for Life Program
Tapitas de Vida is an initiative that promotes the circular economy through the responsible use of plastic bottle caps. Through this program, we invite companies, shopping malls, sports facilities, and schools to become “Allies of Hope” by serving as collection points for plastic caps, thereby helping to reduce the environmental impact of these materials and generate social benefits.
Thanks to strategic partnerships and the sale of collected bottle caps, the proceeds help fund the purchase and donation of essential materials, medical equipment, and supplies for children and young people undergoing cancer treatment through the nonprofit organization Ayúdame a Sonreír Ante el Cáncer (ASAC), turning plastic waste into opportunities that improve their quality of life.
Results
Thanks to the combined efforts of CEMGI and our “Allies of Hope,” this program has successfully generated a positive impact in both environmental and social spheres, strengthening the circular economy and contributing to the well-being of pediatric patients and young people undergoing cancer treatment.
Results achieved (2023–2025):
- 72 alliances of hope formed with organizations committed to sustainability and social responsibility.
- Over 36 tons of plastic caps collected—equivalent to approximately 14,590,188 caps—preventing this waste from reaching final disposal and promoting its recovery within a circular economy framework.
- $281,000.00 generated through the process of reclaiming plastic caps—funds dedicated to supporting cancer patients.
- 1,169 medical supplies for cancer treatment delivered to the civil association ASAC, contributing to improving the quality of life for pediatric and young patients.
- 40 collection bins installed and provided at no cost to our strategic partners to facilitate the collection of plastic caps and expand the program’s reach.
These results reflect CEMGI’s commitment to creating shared value, demonstrating that collaboration among companies, organizations, and society can transform waste into opportunities to generate a positive environmental and social impact.
- Save 482.85 m³ of water. Enough to supply this resource to 1,955 people for one day.
- Save 151,200 kWh of electrical energy. Enough to supply this service to 625 households for a month.
- Avoid the generation of 38 tCO2e. This is equivalent to taking 198.2 compact cars—with an average annual mileage of 30,000 km—off the road.
